Royal Cargo Bike is a Dutch brand from Eindhoven that specializes entirely in electric cargo bikes. Here you will find the complete range, divided into two-wheelers and three-wheelers and split into three versions: Eco, Premium, and Premium Plus. Every bike is built for the tasks a cargo bike performs in the Netherlands, such as taking children to school, grocery shopping, and bringing the dog along. The frame is made of aluminum, the box is made of impact-resistant plastic, and the brakes are standard hydraulic. Whether you want to cruise or whatever, it’s easy to choose between the entry-level model and the top variant.

Two-wheeler or three-wheeler, that’s the first choice

The difference between the 2W and the 3W is not about taste but about riding behavior. The 2W is more agile and lighter (59 kg). It handles like a normal bike and slips more easily through narrow streets and between parked cars. However, it requires a bit more balance when stationary, especially if the box is full. The 3W has a third wheel and a lower center of gravity, so it stays upright without support. For parents who transport two or more children daily, this is very practical at traffic lights and during getting on and off. Still unsure? A simple rule: solo transport or two smaller children, the 2W is sufficient. From three children or if you don’t want to keep balancing all the time, choose the 3W.

Bafang mid-motor and range up to 90 km

All models run on a 250W Bafang motor with pedal assistance up to 25 km/h, so you keep the bike within Dutch e-bike regulations. The Premium and Premium Plus have a Bafang M400 or M420 mid-motor with 80 Nm torque. This provides a natural cycling feel, even with a fully loaded box and on a small incline. The Eco runs on a Bafang rear wheel motor with 45 Nm. That is sufficient for flat city traffic and lighter loads, but you feel the difference as soon as there is headwind or the box is really heavy. The range varies from 70 to 90 km, depending on the model and battery. Enough for a week of school runs without recharging in between. The battery is removable, so charging can be done indoors.

Low step-through and space for 3 to 4 children

The maximum load capacity is 220 kg. That is room for two to four children plus groceries or a week’s worth of sports gear. The plastic box is weather-resistant and easy to clean with a cloth. Low step-through is standard on every Royal Cargo Bike, making mounting easier when you have a child in your arms. The hydraulic disc brakes remain strong in the rain, which really matters on a wet bike path with a loaded cargo bike. A fair note: a cargo bike is and remains large. If you have a small storage space or narrow hallway, measure your storage first before choosing. The 3W requires more space than the 2W, and the Premium Plus is a bit longer than the Eco.
