Tomos fatbike and E-Cargo Longtail: two models, one brand

Tomos is a name many Dutch people know from the moped. Now the brand is back as an e-bike manufacturer, with two bikes that have nothing in common in terms of use. The Flexer is an electric fatbike, designed for daily use on the street. The E-Cargo Longtail is an electric cargo bike with an extended rear rack, intended for those who carry children, groceries, or luggage. Both run on 250W pedal assist up to 25 km/h and are legal on public roads. The Tomos Flexer has a 720Wh battery with a range of 75 to 100 kilometers. The E-Cargo Longtail has a 672Wh battery and reaches 70 to 90 kilometers on a single charge. Which one you need depends entirely on what you want to use the bike for.

Tomos Flexer fatbike: four variants, buddy seat standard

The Flexer comes in four versions: high step-through in Black and Sand, low step-through in Black and Sand. The only difference between high and low step-through is the bar. Technically they are identical. The bike rides on 20-inch Kenda tires with a normal Dutch tread pattern, not knobby tires. This provides quieter and smoother riding on asphalt than many other fatbikes. The buddy seat is standard, including fold-out footrests: carrying a passenger is immediately possible. The 720Wh battery is located under the buddy seat and is removable for charging. Mechanical disc brakes front and rear, LED headlight with daytime running lights, and an LCD display on the handlebar. Weight of the bike: 35 kg.

Tomos E-Cargo Longtail: electric cargo bike

The E-Cargo Longtail is a longtail cargo e-bike: a regular bike with a strongly extended rear rack. Included as standard: a bamboo rear plate, a rack, and a cushion. This makes the bike ready to carry a child, panniers, or crates right away. The motor is a Bafang G060 with 250W and 80Nm torque. That higher torque makes a difference when accelerating with a load or on a hill. The shifting system is a Shimano Deore 10-speed, allowing manual shifting depending on load and riding situation. Hydraulic disc brakes front and rear, suspension fork, and a removable 672Wh battery. At Gofatbike, the E-Cargo Longtail is available in White.

Flexer or E-Cargo Longtail: what is the difference?

The Flexer is a bike for yourself, with space for one passenger on the buddy seat. The E-Cargo Longtail is designed as a cargo bike: more loading space, higher torque for carrying loads, manual shifting. If you ride purely for yourself to work, the Flexer is the logical choice. Do you have children you take to school, or do you regularly transport luggage and groceries? Then the E-Cargo Longtail is more suitable. The price also differs: the Flexer is in a lower price segment, the E-Cargo Longtail is more expensive due to the extra components.
